If you are a barbecue lover but are always running out of time to fire up the grill, a smokeless electric grill should be ideal for you. Electric grills are indoor grills that cut half of your expenses of using a traditional grill.
The grill comprises a cooking surface under which lies a heating element that heats up to anywhere between 330-650F. It is also provided with an electric fan, capable of extracting out the smoke and odor.
Before using the grill, know the parts:
- The top surface is the griddle surface, and the bottom one is called the grill surface. Every model includes a separate glass lid. Under the grill sits the heating element with an attached power cord. The drip-tray lies underneath the element, followed by the collection-pan. The fan and its cover are at the very bottom.
- Remove any packaging materials, stickers, labels, and debris beforehand. Wash all the removable and washable parts and dry them with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquid to clean the electrical equipment, e.g., element, base, and fan.
- Place the E-grill on a horizontal-level surface and assemble the unit. Add 1-1.5cups of water to the collection-pan. Do not place the grill in a corner and let the air flow smoothly.
- Choose whether your dish needs the grill or griddle surface and prepare accordingly. Plug the power into the adjacent electrical power-outlet. If your one has a polarized-plug, then fit it into the appropriate outlet and do not force-plug.
- Press the power switch, if it exists. Otherwise, ensure that the grill is already turned on. It may take several minutes to pre-heat. If your e-grill consists of temperature control, you may need to turn it up an appropriate level to provide adequate heat to your food.
- When you are assured that the grill has been pre-heated, prepare, and season it as per the desired dish. Spray and wipe the grill/griddle plate. Turn the temperature knob for the proper heating level. Turn it to at least 1, or the MIN level to ensure that the product starts heating up.
- Place the food on its grill plate, close the upper surface using the griddle place or the lid. Contact E-grills use a griddle surface, but you can use the lid as per your need. Stand-by the grill all the time, because you do not want your food to overcook.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of meat and steak. You can use your tongs to turn the food to cook evenly, even though the E-grill does that on its own. Grill it to taste. Use a separate/clean pair of tongs and utensils to transfer the food. Make sure that the food is not undercooked/overcooked.
- Turn your grill off and then disconnect the power plug. Let your equipment cool down enough to touch it with bare hands. Disassemble the equipment and clean the surfaces first. Then clean the element and then clean the cooling compartment.
E-grills are safer than the traditional coal/propane grills. Your foods will contain lesser cancer-causing substances because you are using an E-grill. These grills are convenient for every place and can be used anytime, provided that you have electrical power at home.
